Jaeyen Yoo’s painting ‘Wedding March’ comes from her series Monumental Flashback. She explains that the paintings explore

“various kinds of fragments which have come from the collision between reality and childhood memory and childhood fantasy. The collision between ‘recorded incidents’, from 90’s camcorder tapes or old family photos, and the ‘visual memories’ of my childhood is a primary concern in my work.”

‘Wedding March’ is an oil painting on canvas.

Finn Stone

Finn Stone featured two conceptual works in Lacey Contemporary, ‘Cyberdog’ and ‘Andy Warhol’. The painting, ‘Andy Warhol’ is composed of used and cut brushes, and ‘Cyberdog’ is a ’70s sphere Tv screen attached to a sculpted dog’s body and a harness.

He “has moulded his love of eccentricity into the realm of sculpture art, where his practice is governed both by his flamboyance and his overzealous imagination. Somewhat of a sculptural harlequin, he creates work that is juxtapositioned to challenge the banal as he simultaneously tips his hat to his own dream world.”

Michael Tierney’s work ‘Yippity Boom de Boom’ is an oil painting on canvas and is anything but traditional. Tierney juxtaposes ambiguous landscapes with childish imaginary objects and characters intertwined with more adult themes. The title he chose comes from a line in the final song from the feature film Grease.

Winter Pride Exhibition is on at the Lacey Contemporary until Saturday 29th November.
